Wrestle
Throughout our lives, many of us have crossed a point where we rolled around with family and friends, or even with an enemy. What would you call this act of grappling? Personally, I would call the act or sport of wrestling. When you think about the word wrestle, you could be thinking about several different topics. You could be thinking about the actual sport, or just rolling around with friends. You could even be thinking about the fake professional wrestling, or sumo wrestling from Japan. I now encourage you as a reader to think about this word and what it means to you and your life. Think about how you use it, or if you just enjoy watching it. After gaining a brief insight on this amazing word, its time to find out just a little more.
When the word wrestle is brought up in a sentence, many might wonder what exactly the word means. As defined by Dictionary.com, the noun definition or wrestle is an act or bout of wrestling. When used as a verb, the definition is: to contend as in a struggle for mastery; grapple (www.dictionary.com). As the word enters my mind, the definition I think of is a sport or action in which great speed, strength, agility, and heart is required to defeat your opponent at grappling. Since you now know what this particular word means, let’s take a look at its personality.
Who and what is “Wrestle”? Well, I imagine that wrestle would live a very painful but glorious life. Ever since the age of four, I have used this word. From personal experience, “Wrestle” would be a good hearted and dedicated citizen. I believe that he would be a great person, excellent student, and successful athlete. If I were to ever meet “Wrestle”, I think that we would eventually become pretty close friends. In the end, the two of us would always be working to excel in school, sports, and even life. “Wrestle” and I would ultimately be summed up by the expression, “Two peas in a pod.” If he were to ever become an actual person he would be a class-act citizen. He would be friends with everyone, and be a role model for most. “Wrestle” would be one of the toughest guys around, and yet he would still find time to study for class. Hopefully some day, the world will have many more citizens like I imagine wrestle would be.
The word wrestle has been around for thousands of years. Many people and cultures around the world have taken part in this sport. It has been a sport in the Olympics since they first began. In ancient Greece, the word represents what was used in many types of literature (library.thinkquest.org). Personally, the word wrestle has a great deal of meaning in my life. It has also been a major part of my family’s past. In Hayden, Colorado, my grandfather wrestled as a high school student. As you can see, the word helps represent who I am today.
Ever since the beginning of man kind, it has been stated that wrestling has been around. The word represents one of the oldest sports around. It was first started in Ancient Egypt, and then in Ancient Greece. It is such an old sport, that it was in the very first Olympic games. In the past, many of the United States’ presidents wrestled such as; George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abe Lincoln, and even Theodore Roosevelt. Similar to almost any other sport, the history of the word wrestle has been around longer than any one of us, and yet it continues to become a part of many lives.
In today’s society, wrestling is growing and becoming more prosperous every year. Wrestle has grown to represent many different styles such as; Greco Roman, Freestyle, Folk style, Mixed Martial Arts, and Ultimate Fighting. Many countries have representatives demonstrate the ace of word in the Olympic Games. In fact, the word is represented everyday, by thousands of people throughout the nation. Clearly, the word wrestle will continue to make history and will be seen in our future.
Throughout my life, being able to wrestle has played a major factor in who I am today. During the winter months I wrestle for high school, and eventually go nation wide in the spring. As a fellow wrestler, I encourage you as a reader to attend a high school dual, or even go home and grapple with family or friends. As I look back into my past, I can remember attending my very first practice, which was when I used the word wrestle for the first time. After being involved with the word for over thirteen years, all I have to say is that I do not regret it.

Winter Narrative
It was around seven thirty in the morning on December 28, in Orlando, Florida. My
family and I were trying to figure out what we wanted to experience on the last day of our
wonderful, yet short, seven day tropical vacation. Although we were not quite certain on exactly what we wanted to do, we figured that we would go to the only amusement park we had not been to yet. This park was Universal Studios: Islands of Adventure.
Finally at around eight in the morning, my entire family loaded into the three rental cars from Enterprise, and began the exciting end to our vacation. Luckily for my cousins and I, the drive was only about ten minutes from our resort. This was when we could tell that our patience was wearing thin after doing nothing but waiting for the past week. As we approached the park, excitement spread all over my family’s faces because of the fact we had never been there before.
After a kind elderly man directed us where to park, we pulled into our space with nothing but our bir Coloraco smiles. We immediately grabbed our bags and rushed to the ticket gate to enter the “Islands of Adventure.” Seeing as though it was fairly early, everyone was a little hungry, so we stopped at a little shop called Cinnabon. To be honest, this was by far the best pecan cinnamon that I had ever ate. After the enjoyment of the delicious roll, I knew that this day awas going to be amazing.
After eating we began our adventure through the very large park. My older cousin Greg and I seemed to be somewhat amused at the fact that everyone around us was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, as we were only weraring shorts. Following our trip on all of the main rides, my cousin Lindsey and I decided to take a peek at all of the shops in the super hero branch of the amusement park. As we were walking around, we passed a comic book store. So being as childish as we are, we walzed in to the store to take a look around. As we entered, I grew into complete astonishment as I saw the stacks of comic books. It was then that we decided to just stay there and browse the entire store, noticing that there were even heroes neither of us had ever heard of.
Preceeding our journey through the comic book store, Lindsey and I met back up with the other members of my family. Our parents decided it would be a good idea to leave in order for us to be ready for our flight that took off early the next morning. Eventhough our day at Islands of Adventure was long and tiring, I was terribly sad to leave. In my opinion the part I missed the most was laughing at all the people that seemed to be miserable and cold, as my family was hot and sweaty. And of course the breakfast was the highlight of my day. After experiencing this amazing trip, I look forward to a chance of being able to return. Yet in the end I was glad to be headed home.
